Job Summary

Job description:

We are a custom manufacturing company with two production facilities looking for a Senior Infrastructure, Systems & Network Administrator to co-own our IT environment. This is not a help desk role or a stepping stone. It is a long-term, senior position with a path to IT Manager.

You will be one of two people responsible for all of IT. The IT Manager handles ERP, application development, and databases. You own everything else: the network, the servers, the virtualization, the endpoints, the backups, the security, the self-hosted services, and the infrastructure that keeps it all running.

The person you are replacing held this role for thirteen years. We are looking for someone who wants to do the same.

## What You'll Own

- **Servers & Virtualization** — Hyper-V environment across two sites (~37 VMs), Windows Server lifecycle, Docker containers on Linux

- **Identity & Directory** — Active Directory, Azure AD Connect (Entra Connect), Group Policy, DNS, DHCP

- **Networking** — Cisco Meraki firewalls, Ubiquiti UniFi Wi-Fi, VLANs, site-to-site VPN, WAN connectivity

- **Microsoft 365** — Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, Conditional Access, Azure AD SSO

- **Self-Hosted Services** — BookStack, Nextcloud, Gitea, Guacamole, RustDesk Pro, Nginx Proxy Manager, Postfix relay, and custom Python/Flask web apps

- **Backup & Recovery** — Veeam, Linux backup scripts, PostgreSQL/MariaDB recovery

- **Endpoints** — 50-60 PCs/laptops, 25-30 shop floor terminals/kiosks, RDS/Terminal Server

- **Security** — Patch management, MFA, Conditional Access, Microsoft Defender, DNS filtering

- **VoIP** — Digium Switchvox phone system

- **Vendor coordination** — ISPs, printer vendors, hardware/software procurement

## What We Need

- **5+ years** owning infrastructure end-to-end (not MSP-only or help-desk-only backgrounds)

- **Active Directory & Group Policy** — deep enough to know how GPOs break things and how to recover

- **Networking** — TCP/IP, VLANs, VPN, firewalls, site-to-site connectivity, troubleshooting

- **Windows Server & Hyper-V** — build, configure, patch, decommission, recover

- **Microsoft 365** — Exchange Online, Intune, Conditional Access, Azure AD

- **Docker & Linux** — deploy containers, manage Compose stacks, bash scripting, administer Linux services

- **Backup & DR** — you have personally restored and rebuilt production systems

- **PowerShell** — reading required, writing a plus, AI-assisted is fine

- The ability to explain technical problems in plain English to anyone in the building

## Nice to Have

- Cisco Meraki or Ubiquiti UniFi experience

- Microsoft Graph API or Azure AD SSO integrations

- Python/Flask familiarity (maintaining inherited custom apps)

- Self-hosted open source platforms (Gitea, BookStack, Nextcloud, Guacamole)

- SQL Server or PostgreSQL administration

- VoIP administration (Switchvox or similar)

- Manufacturing or shop floor IT background

## What Keeps People Here

- **Autonomy** — you run your domain, not a ticket queue

- **Stability** — decades-old manufacturing company, not a startup

- **Respect** — your judgment matters and you have real authority

- **Low chaos** — 75% planned work, 25% reactive

- **Growth** — clear succession path to IT Manager if desired but not required.

## Work Arrangement

Primarily on-site across two facilities (Rogers and Sulphur Springs, ~40 min apart). Some remote flexibility for maintenance and updates. On-call as needed (rare). Valid driver's license required.

No certification requirements — show us what you've built, broken, and fixed.
